The Charm Hotel

One of the hotel legends of Asia. For almost 100 years the only address for heads of state and corporations. What a feeling: the breeze across Manila Bay in the palm trees, the luxuriant gardens around house, pool and sports arena, and the all-pervading loveliness of the staff, who seem at least as happy as the arriving guests. From the airport it's half an hour, to Makati not much longer. Rizal Park at the back is good for observing local life and Sunday processions; Roxas Boulevard is still good fun at night. The lobby has castle dimensions, the rooms enough room for a long stay. Wander about through the bars and restaurants and shops, and you may want to spend a holiday on the premises.
